KING OF PRUSSIA, PA, May 14, 1997 Nearly 200 Information Technology
professionals met at Technology Defined 1997 on Thursday, April 24th, at the Sheraton
Plaza at the Valley Forge Convention Center in King of Prussia, PA. Technology Defined
97, a premier Information Technology (IT) symposium for Chief Information Officers
and other IT professionals, was the second annual forum of its kind, offering the
opportunity to discuss cutting edge technologies and industry trends, share valuable
perspectives and listen to speakers from a variety of technology-driven organizations
including Microsoft, CDNOW, CoreStates Financial Corp., the Gartner Group, and Zeneca
Pharmaceuticals to name but a few.
The one-day annual event, hosted by CoreTech Consulting Group of King of Prussia, opened
with a Keynote address given by Carter Lusher, Vice President and Research Director of the
Gartner Group, who shared his vision of the key business trends that will drive IT
investments over the next 5 years.
Nearly twenty Chief Information Officers attended a customized, half-day CIO track offered
by invitation only. Their intensive, condensed format began early with a breakfast and a
roundtable discussion on organizing balance to the need for standards and the need to meet
with unique business requirements. Three additional sessions were offered as a part of
this custom program. The CIO track was especially well received by David Stitely, CIO of
Rohm & Haas of Philadelphia, PA, who commented the interaction and varying
perspectives offered were extremely valuable to me. I took away several ideas which I can
now act upon in my own organization. To me, that is the true measure when assessing the
value of a conference. This program was definitely among the Top 10 as IT
events are concerned.
The general session was divided into two perspective paths: a Management track and a
Technical track. Panel discussions, demonstrations and guest speakers addressed a variety
of issues including the Year 2000 opportunity, electronic commerce and the
Internet, attracting and retaining IT talent, messaging and groupware technology, data
warehousing and technical support management.
CoreTech was extremely pleased to host the second annual Technology Defined
symposium. It is truly an honor and a privilege to take a leadership role in the exchange
of ideas and experiences to keep pace with the evolutionary momentum of the IT
Industry, commented David Moore, President and co-founder of CoreTech Consulting
Group.
