Microsoft Windows DNA:
Leveraging Investments
Windows DNA is an architectural framework for
building modern, scalable, multi-tier distributed computing solutions that can be
delivered over any network. The strategy behind Windows DNA is to offer a unified approach
for integrating the Web, client/server and host computing models. The benefits are
flexibility and speed in delivering Internet solutions based on existing PC &
mainframe computing investments.
The architecture addresses all tiers in a distributed
application, from user interface and navigation, to business processes and data storage.
With Windows DNA, developers have a framework to build tightly integrated applications by
accessing a set of application services in the Windows platform, using a wide set of
familiar tools. These services are exposed in a unified manner through Component Object
Model (COM). By taking advantage of modern component-based development methods and
standard implementations of networked services, developers can more rapidly deliver the
innovative solutions their businesses need.
